D' LIBRARY

NSIT has great a sufficiently large library with a large collection of books on various topics right from Computers, Basic Sciences .. to mechatronics .. To English literature … and so on .. HAPPY HUNTING !!

Library Timings : 9:30 am to 8 pm

Lunch timings : 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

Book issue timing : 10 am to 5 pm

Entry procedure : You must keep your I-card. For the first few weeks( until your icard is issued) you may enter the library by making an entry in the register.

NSIT has "huge" library with loads of books by numerous authors on the different subjects. Although most books are related to the syllabus of various branches but you can also find books on English Literature, IIT preparation, IEEE journals related to any technical topic you can think of. Various links to "online" IEEE content can also be accessed by the computers in the library, but the best thing is that there are 4 computers( with "100 Mbps" internet access, which are unfortunately occupied most of the times). Library also has good number of magazines and journals (mostly from IEEE Society).

ISSUE : Every student gets 5 cards (4 regular and 1 photo card) for getting the books issued.

Note: The photo card can be used to get reference book issued overnight. The books can be issued for a period of two weeks on a normal library card and it can be reissued only once. The Library Staff are generous enough, to not to charge on returning a book a few days late (par koshish karo ki 4-5 days se zyada late na ho) and of course best if you return it right on time. Important : Keep your library cards very safely, as there is a security (refundable after 4 yrs) deposit of Rs 500 (or more) for each card lost , you’ll have a “tough” time getting the new cards!!

SEATING:

The library has large tables with comfortable chairs and can at a time seat around 180-200 students

although you won’t find more than 50 anytime you enter the library .

SEARCH/BOOK-HUNTING :

The library has two catalogues to search for the books .One in which the info about books are arranged as per the name of the book and in the other by the name of the author . ( You will often find the book you search for in the catalogue but seldom will you find it in the place it is supposed to be . par try karne mein kya jata hai ?)Advice : If you don’t find the book where it is supposed to be, don’t be disappointed . (don’t lose hope is the moral of the story ) First try to find it in the shelves meant for recent books read . And then look for it between books , on top of other books , on top of shelves and a number of different hiding places . ( Often students hide books in order to get them issued later for themselves . ) It’s Tit for Tat, if you hide a book , than the book you need will be hidden y someone else…!!

BOOK BANK : The book bank is a storehouse of books .Books from the book bank are issued to the students for the whole semester .A library card is taken for every book issued . ( For reserved categories , no library card is taken ) . It is advisable to apply for the book bank as early as possible. Procedure for applying :After you have received your library card , you can apply for the book bank. You need to give the application in a format given below :1. Your name 2. Your library id ( same as roll number ) 3. category 4. Name of the book, author, call number in tabular form.

PS: Library is also used to complete practical file, TAEPO , getting your work done "by helping hands".
