ACCOMMODATION FAQs
Q. What is the average monthly cost of living in a flat?
A. The cost per person comes out to be roughly around Rs. 2250 – 2500 per month.
Q. What kind of group size is most suitable while looking for a flat?
A. A group of 4-6 students is ideal as most flats around the college are 3 bedroom apartments or
bed room apartments, the latter being less common.
Q. What are the options regarding food while living in a flat?
A. There are many options:
The best (and cheapest ) option is the hostel mess ( yes, those living in flats are allowed to eat at the mess). You have the option of going to either BH-1 or BH-2 with BH-1 being definitely better in terms of food quality, seating capacity and accessibitlty. You have the option of paying per day, and paying per meal, with charges as below:
Pay per day: Rs. 40 (inclusive of breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner)
Pay per meal:
| Breakfast |
Rs. 10 ( 8:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) |
| Lunch |
Rs. 20 ( 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) |
| Snacks |
Rs. 5 ( 5:30 p.m.) |
| Dinner |
Rs.20 ( 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.) |
Besides, the mess, there are a lot of eating out options to suite every taste and pocket. These you can explore on your own. However, I would suggest that you visit the Sector -6 market which has a lot of options.
Q. What is the situation regarding electricity/ water/ security in Dwarka?
A. Electricity:
The situation is same as that all over Delhi. However, most cooperative societies around the college have power backup facility, so it is not a big problem.
Water:
Water supply is a big problem in Dwarka, with supply erratic at best. However, there are a few exceptions such as the Prodyogiki Society and National Appts. which is of now doesn’t have any water related problems.
Drinking Water:
Most people manage by keeping large, 1-2 litre bottles with them when they go to eat at the mess, filling water at the mess itself. A few stores also supply 20 litre Bisleri bottles at homes, if you so wish. |
